Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing and using Calcify (the "Service") at calcify.dev, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you must not use the Service. These Terms apply to all visitors, users, and others who access or use Calcify, including all web pages, tools, guides, and resources available on the website. We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time, and your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

2. Description of Service

Calcify provides a collection of 65+ free online calculators and developer tools accessible via the web at calcify.dev. The Service includes, but is not limited to:

  • Calculators:Health & fitness calculators (BMI, calorie, body fat, etc.), math & science calculators (scientific, statistics, trigonometry, etc.), academic calculators (GPA, grade, student loan, etc.), and everyday utility calculators (tip, discount, unit conversion, etc.).
  • Developer Tools:Text & code tools (JSON formatter, regex tester, Base64 encoder, etc.), security tools (password generator, hash calculator, JWT decoder), web & frontend tools (color picker, CSS generator, meta tag generator), data tools (CSV/JSON converter, SQL formatter), and network tools (HTTP status checker, IP lookup).
  • Guides & Articles: Educational content explaining the concepts and formulas behind each tool.

All tool processing is performed locally in your browser. Calcify does not guarantee the availability, uninterrupted access, accuracy, or fitness of any tool for any particular purpose. We reserve the right to modify, add, or remove tools at any time without prior notice.

3. Acceptable Use

You are welcome to use Calcify tools for personal, educational, and commercial purposes. However, you agree to the following rules:

You MAY:

  • Use Calcify tools for personal and commercial purposes at no charge.
  • Link to Calcify pages from your website, blog, or social media.
  • Share Calcify with friends, colleagues, and students.
  • Use calculation results in your projects, reports, and documents.
  • Reference Calcify in educational materials and tutorials.

You MAY NOT:

  • Use Calcify for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws or regulations.
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service.
  • Use automated scripts, bots, or scraping tools to mass-access or extract data from Calcify.
  • Attempt to disrupt, overload, interfere with, or impair the proper functioning of the Service or servers.
  • Introduce malware, viruses, or other harmful code to the Service.
  • Impersonate Calcify or misrepresent your affiliation with us.
  • Use the Service in any way that could damage, disable, or impair the Service or interfere with any other party's use of the Service.

4. Accuracy Disclaimer

While we strive for accuracy in all our calculators and tools, Calcify is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. Specific important disclaimers include:

  • Medical: Health-related calculators (BMI, calorie, body fat, macro, water intake, etc.) provide general estimates based on standard formulas. They are NOT a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always consult a qualified healthcare provider for medical decisions.
  • Financial: Loan calculators and cost estimators provide approximate figures for planning purposes only. Actual costs, rates, and terms may vary. Consult a qualified financial advisor for important financial decisions.
  • Legal: No information on Calcify constitutes legal advice. For legal matters, consult a qualified attorney.
  • Academic: Grade calculators and GPA estimators are unofficial tools. Official grades and GPAs are determined by your educational institution.
  • Developer Tools: While developer tools are designed for accuracy, you should always verify critical outputs (such as hash values, JWT tokens, or formatted data) using additional sources when accuracy is critical to your project.

5. Intellectual Property

The Calcify website, including but not limited to its design, layout, source code, text, graphics, logos, icons, images, audio, video, compilations, and software, is the property of Calcify and is protected by applicable copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

  • Calcify name and logo:The "Calcify" name, logo, and branding elements are our trademarks. You may not use them without our prior written permission.
  • Website code: The source code of the Calcify website is protected by copyright. If the project is open-source, it is distributed under the terms of its specific open-source license (see the GitHub repository for license details). Otherwise, you may not copy, modify, or redistribute the code without permission.
  • Content: Guides, articles, and educational content published on Calcify are our original work and may not be reproduced without attribution and permission.
  • Third-party content: Some tools may use open-source libraries or reference public formulas. These are used in accordance with their respective licenses.

6. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Calcify and its operators, contributors, and affiliates shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages arising from or related to:

  • Your use of or inability to use the Service.
  • Any errors, inaccuracies, or omissions in calculation results.
  • Any decisions made based on information or results obtained from the Service.
  • Any unauthorized access to or alteration of your data or devices (note: we do not access your data, but this is a standard legal protection).
  • Any interruption or cessation of the Service.

Calcify may contain links to third-party websites, resources, or services that are not owned or controlled by us. We are not responsible for:

  • The content, accuracy, or practices of any third-party website.
  • The privacy policies or data practices of any third-party website.
  • Any damage or loss caused by or in connection with the use of any third-party content, goods, or services.

Inclusion of any third-party link does not imply endorsement, sponsorship, or recommendation by Calcify. We encourage you to review the terms and privacy policies of any third-party sites you visit.

9. Service Availability

Calcify is provided as a free service and we strive to maintain continuous availability. However, we do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service (or any part thereof) at any time, with or without notice, for any reason, including maintenance, upgrades, or force majeure events. We shall not be liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuance of the Service.

10. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which Calcify operates, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising out of or related to these Terms or the Service shall be resolved through the following process:

  • Informal resolution: You agree to first try to resolve any dispute by contacting us at hello@calcify.dev. We will attempt to resolve the dispute within 30 days.
  • Arbitration: If the dispute cannot be resolved informally, you agree to submit to binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the applicable arbitration body.

11. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, such provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid and enforceable, or if modification is not possible, shall be severed from these Terms. The remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect. The invalidity of any provision shall not affect the validity or enforceability of the remaining provisions.

12. Entire Agreement

These Terms of Service, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Calcify regarding the use of the Service. They supersede all prior or contemporaneous communications, representations, or agreements, whether oral or written, between you and Calcify. If any provision of these Terms conflicts with the Privacy Policy, the Privacy Policy shall control with respect to privacy-related matters.

13. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to modify or replace these Terms at any time at our sole discretion. If a revision is material, we will make reasonable efforts to provide at least 30 days' notice prior to any new terms taking effect, such as posting a notice on the Calcify website. What constitutes a material change will be determined at our sole discretion. By continuing to access or use the Service after any revisions become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the new Terms, you must stop using the Service.
